Area information

The NH Carlton is located in the heart of Amsterdam on the colorful flower market and in the direct vicinity of the famous shopping streets and museums. You can enjoy the various shops that sell jewelry, clothing, books, antiques and more with their beautiful architecture while going out for a stroll.
It only takes 5 minutes to get to the central station (Centraal Station) and you can reach Schiphol Airport in 25 minutes. Amsterdam and its surroundings are known for the diversity in museums, art, entertainment and events, which you can combine very easily with a business trip. Amsterdam has something for everyone, you can visit the Rijksmuseum, Paleis op de Dam (the palace on Dam square), the Van Gogh museum or go to a musical or dance performance.
The city also has various things to do after a long meeting. One of the most known events is a trip through the canals, which can be arranged to include lunch, brunch, dinner with candlelight or a visit to one of the typically Dutch 'brown' cafés.

The rooms were really nice, with a brilliant view from the window of the clock, flower market (not much of), and the canal. Sound proofing windows guaranteed a good night sleep - in a very comfortable bed. Very central and close to rembrandt square where there were many restaurants and cafes. Friendly staff and porters.

People have mentioned the carpets being old and shabby-this is true but only in hallways which i didn't think was really that important. The price was a little on the high side.....but it was nice (maybe not 4* in every aspect though). Could be cheaper.........All in all, we would recommend the hotel for a little break to the city.

Noisy! Most of (probably all of) signboards say former name of this hotel. I couldn't find "NH Carlton Amsterdam".

Close to everything...comfortable room, and noise blocking curtains. There was a lot of road work going on outside while we were there, and it was very noisy, until we pulled the curtains shut, and did not hear a thing.

View from the room

Yes - the hotel is actually a Jolly Hotel Group property recently taken over by NH Hotels. The check is was poor with a trainee not knowing what she was doing. My room key didn't work and when I finally got into the room it wsa the wrong type. The hotel is very tired, the corridors are dirty and it is not like any other NH property I've stayed in. I will definitely avoid this hotel.
